Namibia

Namibia is a magical place. The remoteness is refreshing and the scenery is breathtaking.

The Moore you know…

Weather

Namibia is one of the driest countries on the planet. However, go between May and September for the dry months and best chances of seeing wildlife in areas such as Etosha National Park. Temperatures are also more mild this time of year with highs around 64 – 90° Fahrenheit.

Power Plugs

Sockets are type D and M, so you will more than likely need an adaptor, as they are only used in some African countries and India. Voltage is 220 V and frequency is 50 Hz. You can find adaptors and converters on Amazon.

Currency & Credit Cards

South African Rand is accepted throughout Namibia, but the Namibian Dollar is the official currency. Lodges and restaurants generally accept credit card, but you will need cash for fuel stations, parks, souvenirs, and tips. If you do plan on going to South Africa, they do not accept Namibian Dollars.

Language

Most people speak English, but Namibia has a huge German influence. So you will find a lot of German expats and German speaking tour guides due to the colonization prior to the British confiscation after World War I.
